Think Selection has been asked to by a London-based Publishing house to find a qualified lawyer to join the company to manage and oversee publishing contracts and provide legal advice on contractual matters.
Your role as Publishing Lawyer will be to draft, review, and advise on publishing agreements, contributor contracts, subsidiary rights licences, and a range of other partnership agreements.
You’ll also provide legal guidance on international rights, sales, marketing, and digital and audio publishing agreements and manage disputes and negotiations. Additionally, you will oversee NDAs and agreements related to co-editions and distribution contracts.
You’ll manage a small team, ensuring effective workflow with contract management, and you’ll be responsible for overseeing the contract approval process.
A strong understanding of copyright law, publishing agreements, and rights management is essential, along with experience in contract negotiation. Some knowledge of audio, film, or TV agreements would be an advantage. You will need excellent drafting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate legal matters effectively across the business.
